A by-election has been called to find a new councillor for Salford’s Langworthy ward.

This follows the death of Councillor Paul Longshaw in September.

The election will be held on Thursday 14 December 2017, with the count held at Salford Civic Centre from 10pm.

Nominations for candidates must be submitted by 4pm on 17 November 2017

Jim Taylor, Returning Officer for Salford City Council, said:

“Councillor Paul Longshaw sadly passed away so a by election has been called to find a new councillor to fill his seat.

“Council officers will be making arrangements for the election in the coming weeks and sending out polling cards to all those registered to vote in the Langworthy ward.

“Anyone not currently registered to vote has until 28 November 2017 to do so. This is your opportunity to have your say on who represents your community and views in Langworthy so make your mark at the election.”
