This year, Salford Community Leisure has a slime-packed programme of exciting Halloween events and interesting October half term activities.

What’s on at Buile Hill Park

The annual Halloween Spooktacular Party,Friday 27 October, 2-8pm, Buile Hill Park in Salford

Enjoy spooky family fun with a fair, frightful face painting, gruesome glitter tattoos, creepy crafts, spooky story telling, skull coconut shy, climbing wall, fairground rides, curious critters and football tricks and turns and penalty shoot out with Academy 92. Fancy dress is essential! Additional charges will apply for rides and stalls. Food and refreshments available. If you buy a wristband in advance, you can get unlimited rides for £5 per person. Session times are 2.30 - 4.30pm, 4.30 - 6.30pm and 6.30 - 8.30pm. Wristbands are available until 26 October at participating leisure centres including Clarendon LC, Ordsall LC, Guild Hall Community Centre and Height Library. Wristbands will not be available to buy on the day and rides will be £2.00.

The Witches Walk at Buile Hill Park Friday 27 October at 4.30, 5.30 and 6.30pm

Prepare to be creeped-out by taking part in the scariest-ever walk complete with spooky zones, freaky characters, amazing special effects, stilt walkers and live dance performances - frightfully good family fun for those that are brave enough. Tickets are £2 per child (Under 2’s free). A family ticket is £7.00 (any combination of 4 people, must include at least 1 child).

 

What’s on at Ordsall Hall

The 750-year-old Ordsall Hall is the oldest building in Salford with its own resident ghost, the White Lady, who has been reported to walk around the halls and chambers holding a candle. Ordsall Hall is very popular with ghoul-crazy visitors and has a-year-round events programme including ghost nights and tours which attract ghost hunters galore from all around the UK. If you love all things spooky, Ordsall Hall is a great day out all year-round.

Magic Door Trail

Monday 23 – Sunday 29 October

Available during opening hours. £1 per child, drop in, no booking required. Find the magic doors that have appeared around Ordsall Hall and the gardens. Find them all and you’ll get a prize.

Witchful Thinking

Monday 23 & Tuesday 24 October 10am – 12pm and 1 – 3pm, £1.50 per child, drop in, no booking required. Come to the kitchen at Ordsall Hall and meet a magical resident. Have a go at making a magic door (Monday) or a magic wand (Tuesday) to make your own magic at home.

Halloween Grotto

Wed 25 & Thur 26 October 1 – 3pm (time slots will be confirmed after booking).

£4.50 (plus booking fee) and booking required. Come and meet the resident Ordsall Hall witch in her grotto, have a go at some spells and beat her riddles if you dare! All brave souls will receive a special Halloween gift.

Ghost & History Tours of Ordsall Hall Monday October 30 at 7pm and 8.30pm

Find out about the fascinating history of Ordsall Hall and some of the ghosts who are said to haunt this atmospheric building on these special Halloween tours of the oldest building in Salford. Suitable for children aged 12+. Tickets cost £5 plus booking fee and booking is essential. Call 0161 872 0251 or book online.

Spooky Quizzes

Tuesday 24 – Sunday 29 October. Available during opening hours, £1 per child and quizzes are drop in with no booking required. Take part in the spooky, fun quiz and get a small prize at the end.

Meet Mr Radclyffe

Tuesday 24 October. 10am - 12pm and 1 - 3pm. These sessions are free and you can drop in (no booking required). Come and meet Mr Radclyffe, proprietor of the toy shop in Lark Hill Place and play with some Victorian toys.

Meet the Street

Wednesday 25 October. 10am - 12pm and 1 - 3pm. £1.50 per child, drop in, no booking required. Meet a character from Lark Hill Place, find out how they lived, look at some unusual Victorian objects and buy a peg doll kit to take home (is it extra for doll or does £1.50 cover the doll)? The £1.50 is the cost for the peg doll  

Mrs Tomlinson’s Sweet Shop

….Is open on Friday 27 October, 10am - 12pm and 1 - 3pm. This event is free, drop in, no booking required. Pop down to the general store in Lark Hill Place and pick up some sweet treats!

 

Salford Sports at October half term

Helly Hansen Watersports Centre Adventure Week

Monday 23 - Friday 27 October 9.30am - 4.30pm, £200, for ages 12 – 16.

Adventurers can enjoy an action-packed week of full day activities including two offsite trips. Participants will focus on learning new skills in a more challenging environment including canoeing, sailing, stand up paddle boarding, offsite climbing and kayaking.

Aqua Activities

Monday 23 - Friday 27 October 9.30am - 12.30pm & 1.30 - 4.30pm, £75, 8-12s

Taster course with a chance to try kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing or raft building.

Junior Learn to Wakeboard, Monday 23 - Friday 27 October, 9.30am - 12.30pm & 1.30 - 4.30pm, £80 for 8-12s. Junior riders can get out on the water on our Wake Park and test their technique against the Cutting Edge Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels.

FREE Deadly Dance Camp 23-27October, Swinton & Pendlebury Leisure

Centre, Dance Studio. Join our Dance Team to prepare a spooky themed dance to perform at The Witches Walk on Friday 27 October. Please note dancers must be able to attend all rehearsals and the performance at The Witches Walk on the Friday evening Rehearsals are on Monday 23 - Friday 27 October 2- 4pm for those aged 8-16 and the performance is on Friday 27 October from 5pm at Buile Hill Park. Places are limited and booking essential so please email dance@scll.co.uk with interest.

Spooky Gym Tumble

Monday 23 - Thurs 26 October, 10am - 12pm, £5 per day for 5-15s at Ordsall Leisure Centre. Join us for thrilling and chilling gymnastics, trampolining and tumbling skills.

Sport and Leisure Open Access Programme at Walkden High School

Monday 23 to Friday 27 October, 10am - 3pm, £3 per child for 8-16s.

Children can enjoy a variety of multi sports and fun games as well as football tournaments. For creative fun, there will also be Halloween themed art & craft workshops. Drop in, no need to book. For enquiries contact Amy 0161 778 0569 / amy.hallsworth@scll.co.uk

Gymnastics & Dance Camp for children and young people with disabilities, Wednesday 25 October at Ordsall Leisure Centre.

1 - 4pm, £4.50 suitable for those aged 5 – 17.

These fun & interactive sessions combine gymnastics & dance for those with disabilities and special needs. Activities to encourage mobility, build confidence and social interaction. To book, please contact Ordsall Leisure Centre on 0161 848 0646. Parents can stay with their children but do not have to participate.
