APPEAL FOR WITNESSES AFTER A CYCLIST DIED IN A COLLISION IN SALFORD
Around 3am on Sunday 14 October police were called to reports that a black Vauxhall Vectra had been involved in a collision with a 40-year-old man on a bike on Trinity Way at the junction of Blackfriars Road.

Police and the Ambulance Service attended but sadly the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men aged 25 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving. They remain in police custody for questioning.

Police Sergeant Jon McColl of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:

“My thoughts are with the man’s family at this devastating time.

“We have specially trained officers supporting them and I hope to soon be in a position to give them the answers they deserve.

“Whilst we have 2 men in custody, our investigation has only just began.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-cam footage. Also, if you were in the area at the time and saw the black Vectra prior to the collision, please do get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741, alternatively call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
