Firefighters are reportedly tackling a blaze at the JWS waste processing site on Fredrick Road in Pendleton this evening, police are urging members of the public in the vicinity to close windows and doors due to possible toxic fumes emanating from the fire. In a post on social media, GMP Salford Said: Road Closures in the area are as follows: BROAD STREET / FREDERICK ROAD JNC FREDERICK RD / LWR BROUGHTON ROAD LWR BROUGHTON RD / CROMWELL RD CROMWELL RD / LISSADEL ST A video posted by John Dawson on Facebook shows the extent of the fire. It is not yet clear as to how the blaze was started. The site in broughton is operated by JWS Waste, which supplies skips to companies throughout the North West and describes its four acre site which includes a trade waste materials recycling facility (MRF) as “one of the largest recycling and processing facilities in the region”.
